Welcome

The presidents of the Belgian Society of Toxicology and Ecotoxicology (BelTox) and the Belgian Society of Environmental Mutagenesis (BEMS) welcome you at their common website portal with the domain name "ToxicologySocietiesBelgium.be” (or “ToxSoc.be”). The initiative of introducing this common portal enables the publication of news and activities of common interest such as the announcement of upcoming events organized by both societies separately or together, the announcement of the next sessions of the jury to evaluate applications for European Register of Toxicologists (ERT) nomination, subscription to the events of both societies, job announcements etc. The sponsors from both societies will also be accessible from this page. From this portal easy access can be gained to the modules of each society which will have a similar structure but which are populated by each society according to their own specific needs and priorities. The modules of each society remain accessible through the original URLs Beltox.be and BEMS.be.

The BEMS is the Belgian Environmental Mutagen Society. The members are scientists who share the passion of studying “cancer and environment” and individuals who want to learn more about this important topic.

The aims of the society are:

- To disseminate knowledge by means of scientific meetings and to share scientific expertise amongst its members
- To promote and to encourage research on the genetic and non-genetic effects of environmental carcinogens, on their detection in exposed humans and on the mechanisms in the development towards cancer (carcinogenesis).
- To provide scientific assistance to official authorities and private industries in the field of environmental mutagenesis.

The society was founded in October 1980 and together with other European national Societies, it constitutes the European Environmental Mutagen Society (EEMS). The EEMS is part of the International Association of Environmental Mutagen Societies (IAEMS)
